How Ayurveda Can Stop Your Hair Loss Problem?

Must read

I feel like shaving my head, I am fed up with hair fall!’ Jonita, frustratingly said while combing her hair to her roommate Riya. The sight of losing her precious locks, hair clogged in the drain, lying on the pillow, and the sight of hair on her comb made her feel conscious of her looks and increased stress levels. She kept on searching how to stop hair loss and regrow hair naturally on the internet and asked people for its solution. Despite making several attempts and trying different home remedies, spa and salon treatments, her hairline kept on receding. Looking at her distressed condition, Riya advised trying Ayurvedic treatment for hair fall. She hesitantly asked Riya ‘Does Ayurvedic hair treatment work? Will it help stop my hair loss and help in regrowth?’

Riya is a firm believer in Ayurveda as she has seen her mother experiencing wonderful results with this evidence-backed, traditional science. Her mother has experienced thyroid disorder, hair thinning and hair loss. She got a solution for her hair problem in Ayurveda. Her thyroid levels are also normal now. This positive experience entrusted Riya with Ayurvedic treatment for hair fall and hence she advised Jonita to consult an Ayurvedic doctor.

Ayurveda treatment – an effective hair solution

Ayurveda, a 5000-year-old science, offers safe, effective, and long-lasting solutions for various acute and chronic disorders. Ayurveda is not only a part of our life; it is the ‘science of life’. It forms a base for healthy living and well-being. Ayurvedic beauty solutions are root-cause based and personalised. If an individual is losing hair, Ayurveda will go to the deep root level of the problem, identify the cause, and address it with herbs-based remedies and lifestyle recommendations.

According to Ayurveda, there are mainly three doshas (body types) – vata, pitta & kapha. These doshas are responsible for keeping our mind and body healthy and balanced. Any vitiation in these doshas may result in causing a disorder in the body. Hair fall, hair thinning, stunted hair growth, dandruff and other hair problems are a result of an imbalance in doshas. When you consult an Ayurvedic doctor, he/she will identify the dosha imbalance, contributing factors related to diet and lifestyle, and other associated disorders which could be leading to hair loss. They provide you with a comprehensive hair fall treatment that corrects your problem from the root. Unlike other hair treatment options, Ayurveda works on balancing your mind and body, treats and prevents recurrence of the disorder.

Suggested Ayurvedic hair treatment

When Jonita visited the Ayurvedic doctor, she had a detailed consultation. The doctor explained to her about ‘Nidanparivarjan’ – Ayurveda’s first line of management in which all the causative factors and risk factors are examined carefully and are asked to avoid to prevent further hair fall. She was informed that her pitta is increased which is leading to hair fall. She was given a diet and lifestyle plan along with a few Ayurvedic medicines that effectively reduced her hair fall.

She was asked to include green leafy vegetables and fruits rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin B complex, zinc, sulphur and omega-3 fatty acids in her diet to make the roots of her hair strong. A spoonful of white sesame seeds is also very effective in hair loss as they are a great source of magnesium and calcium. She also started having amla juice every day in the morning. Amla is the best hair tonic as it is a rich source of Vitamin C and antioxidants. She was also asked to avoid excessive use of salt in her diet.

She made yoga a part of her daily routine. Inverted yogasanas such as sarvangasana (shoulder stand pose) that tend to reverse the gravity on the body are the best-suited exercises for the prevention of hair fall. They stimulate the flow of blood to the head. Practicing deep breathing exercises also helped her in managing stress levels, anxiety and keeping her mind balanced. Harsh chemical, heating treatment used in practice for cosmetic purposes should be avoided or minimally used. After a few months of Ayurvedic treatment for hair fall, Jonita had significant, satisfactory, considerable relief in her hair loss problem. She experienced hair growth. She hasn’t taken any other medicines or treatments during this period. Ayurveda provided wonderful results to her. Like Riya, she has also become a believer in Ayurveda and recommends others to follow the same.
